2025 Toyota Tacoma Trim Comparison

2025 Toyota Tacoma Trims

2025 Toyota Tacoma SR

This is the basic work truck spec for the new 2025 Toyota Tacoma. Not everyone needs a fully loaded rock crawler, after all. The Toyota Tacoma SR combines features like steel wheels, cloth seats, and manual interior controls to deliver an old-school truck experience.

Plus, it’s offered with an available six-speed manual transmission on the Double Cab configuration for those who like to row their own gears. It also has the turbocharged i-FORCE 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine standard – no need to spend more to get a good engine.

2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5

The Toyota Tacoma SR5 is a good value, offering a step up in features from the base model. It dumps the steel wheels for handsome 17-inch alloy wheels and adds a coil-spring suspension setup on the Double Cab body style for enhanced comfort and handling.

It isn’t far off from the previous model, but it has a few more creature comforts and amenities to enjoy compared to the SR trim. Plus, the SR is one of two Tacoma trims that can hit the max towing capability of 6,500 pounds when properly equipped and when configured correctly.

2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD PreRunner

Returning once again is the quirky yet beloved TRD PreRunner that was reintroduced for 2024. It’s a two-wheel-drive-only model with a locking rear differential designed for desert running.

The TRD PreRunner features black body cladding and is only available in the XtraCab body style with a 6-foot bed, resulting in a very sporty appearance overall. Its 32-inch BFGoodrich® all-terrain tires are standard equipment. The TRD PreRunner is the second trim that can achieve the maximum towing capability of 6,500 pounds.1

2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport

The 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport is a well-rounded, sporty package marked by its distinct hood scoop. It’s the lowest trim level available with the optional 326-horsepower i-FORCE MAX 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid powertrain.

It also has a standard TRD sport-tuned suspension and an available six-speed manual transmission. While it isn’t as hardcore as the higher trims, the TRD Sport offers a compelling performance package and a striking appearance.

1Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Owner's Manual. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. "Added vehicle equipment" includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle's exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo. [Calculated with the new SAE J2807 method.] Installation of a tow hitch receiver or other accessories located near the rear bumper or side-door kick sensors may require disabling or removing the kick sensor, and the sensor operation setting in your vehicle should be turned off. See Owner's Manual for limitations.
